First things first, as much as I would have liked this to be Day 3, it is really days 3 through 9. Not an excuse, just super busy trying to move and something had to give – work, workouts, my daughter’s sports, 40-ish…
Guess what lost? As it should be, 40-ish, but still frustrating.
What isn’t frustrating is the results I’ll share for the 6 Pack Abs Challenge (#6PackAbsChallenge)
I would have weighed in 3 days ago, but in the move I lost my scales – technically not lost, just packed away REALLY well. Finally found them yesterday!
6 Pack Abs progress
Month 1, Day 3-9 of the 6 pack abs challenge and I am back with results after a week of not posting.
3 days posting out of 9. Ouch.
If you missed it, you can see Day 2 here or you can use the link above to get to the main abs challenge.
On to day 3 (and 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9)!
I lost 13 pounds in 9 days!
That is crazy! I started this 9 days ago at 203, and I am at 190 this morning.
I lost 10 pounds in the last week alone – from 200 to 190. Let me try to explain what I think is going on…
First of all, I need to back up a few days for people who don’t read all the posts or who don’t follow on Twitter (shame on you)
On the first day of the challenge, I lost 3 pounds. Then 2 pounds on the 2nd day, and a paltry 0.5 pounds on the third day to end up at 197.5.
I’m not going to lie, I thought it was an anomaly based on salt, being overly fat, etc the first 2 days and that I would settle into the .5 a day at best for a while. On the chart later in this post, I even planned for it.
After the 3rd day, I moved. Packed my scale in part of the 3 trucks and countless car loads of crap that we moved.
I didn’t weigh during that time because I was slammed trying to get everything to the new house plus I couldn’t find the box that had my scales.
I haven’t worked harder and sweated as much as I did over those 4 days in a VERY long time. Brutal, but kinda fun in a sick, sadistic workout kind of way.
Well, I finally found my scales yesterday and weighed in… 197.5. Frustrating, but… WAIT, that’s not 197.5, that is 191.5!
WTF!
Surely not. Let me re-level this thing, put in new batteries, and try again… Same result.
I must be more dehydrated from that move than I thought. I drank tons of water all through the weekend, but maybe I didn’t get enough and I haven’t recovered.
This can’t be true. I never count my weight unless it is consistent for a couple days so I’ll wait until tomorrow before I get too excited.
Today I weighed in as soon as I could and hoped I was still at the same point, but expecting it to be much higher.
190 pounds even. I drank a lot of water and ate clean. I climbed thousands of stairs with boxes that weighed from 5 to 50 plus pounds. I climbed those same stairs with furniture that felt like it was made of concrete. Great workout.
That still doesn’t explain it all.
I WAS also doing a cleanse during this first 10 days so that definitely contributed to the loss. I promised not to promote supplements or anything like that during this challenge to keep it all about the goal and results. If it is the cleanse, it will be interesting to see how the next few days go as I progress out of the 10 days and into the middle 10 days of this first month challenge.
Adjust my goal?
On my way to 188 from 203 in 30 days… it sounded really tough, but I am well on my way in only 10 days so maybe I need to adjust my goal.
I only have 2 more pounds and 20 days left in the month so I think I will, but not until I hit that goal just so I see the goal accomplished!
Here are the values and you’ll see I made the days I missed the same weight as the day before and gave them a different color.
And here is the full values and chart so you can see my drop and progress to goal.
I won’t bore you with all the details I usually keep on the daily versions of this update so that is basically it for now, but here are a couple of observations:
- Eating clean is actually good tasting and is easier, faster, and cheaper than eating fast food or basic restaurants.
- Moving sucks.
- Moving is a great workout for legs, lower back, and core.
- Weighing every day may be frustrating me – need to reconsider…
- I definitely need more cardio – those stairs and endless trips to the truck and back to the house wore me out. Didn’t help that it was upper 90’s and high humidity, but still…
- There are some very generous and motivating people on Twitter and the Internetz.
Thanks again for all your encouragement and support. Abs don’t stand a chance of staying hidden
