Maggie is our first International Featured Fitness inspiration and what a way to kick things off – she is the same age as both “That Guy” and “Not So Average Joe” – 45! And she is Rockin 40-ish! I don’t quite know how “mad as a bag of frogs” is, but my guess is it is pretty mad!
Keep a close eye on her Twitter as she continues to compete, but for now, enjoy the interview and be inspired!
Name or Nickname: Margaret Elliot
Age-ish: 45 Height: 5’7 Weight: Compete at 9/9.5 stone(126/133 pounds). Currently off season at 11.3 stone (158 pounds)
Where do you call home: Darvel in Ayrshire Scotland
How long have you been into fitness? Around 4 years
Anyone or anything that was your motivation? Robert Craig is my prep guy and is superb! He is always positive even in darkest days of prep. Team TSC are mad as a bag of frogs but wouldn’t have got my end goal without them. We help each other through prep and it’s a great feeling and super bond has formed within the team… My family have also been behind me the whole road to stage. My son is so proud of me and what I’ve achieved it brings a tear to my eye.
Do you train, compete, or are you just living a fit lifestyle? I train to compete in figure class, it’s an addictive lifestyle which I love
What workouts give you the best results? (Heavy, Reps, Cardio, Xfit…) I find that heavy works for me with a high rep day thrown in now and again
Current “BIG” goal: Gain size and get back on stage next year in better shape than last show
Who is your inspiration in the fitness world: Close to home it has to be Michelle Morris, a beautiful person inside and out! And Dana Linn Bailey, she just looks so amazing!
Biggest fitness struggle? Juggling work with training and prep. My old boss ridiculed me totally in run up to my last show – so much so I had to leave the job, but I showed him!!!!
Proudest body part transformation? Probably my back, it came in so well. Will be working hard on my stomach for next time – I feel it coulda been so much better
Favorite training plan and/or meal plan? Robert Craig does all my diet and training plans. He knows what works for me and food/water I can take etc. I train four days out of seven and currently doing shoulders twice a week as they need lifting. No cardio at present, but will kick in in run up to shows obviously. Training and diets change almost monthly at the moment, but can be weekly nearer to show time. Small adjustments can make a huge difference.
Favorite supplements? I use bulk powders or my protein for supplements – find their stuff good quality and reasonable prices
Fav follow on Twitter? Any of the #teammutant guys and gals are brill
Best tip/advice you would give 40-ish men and women trying to get in shape? It’ll take time, but never give up! Have faith in yourself!
Favorite quote or advice you’ve been given? Only person that can do this is you!
