Healthy Nutrition
Wait, don’t leave! This isn’t one of those boring eat only broccoli and chicken sermons
Most of you can relate to the never ending quest to find quality food, supplements, protein, preworkout, postworkout or whatever workout nutrition you need.
I try to stay as clean, green, and healthy as possible, but I also vary it up sometimes to keep my sanity and diet in check.
Energy Drinks
I occasionally have an energy drink after a really tough workout headed into a long day of meetings and today’s marathon of corporate hour long sessions for 6 straight hours had me looking for help… and I found it…
Several friends have mentioned this one so I tried out a Kill Cliff this morning and just one word…
AWESOME!
I had to agree with NotSoAverageJoe that it is an odd name, but it is not easily forgotten so maybe it really is a great marketing ploy. Whatever, I don’t drink them because I like the name.
This recovery drink was new to me and peaked my interest when I read that it received best new product of the year in 2011. No idea why I haven’t tried it before, but I get stuck with the routine or convenient products I’ve used before. Glad I gave it a shot!
It is sold in 9000 locations so you should be able to easily find it. And KC gives a steady flow of revenue to some of my favorite causes including Navy SEAL Foundation, Wounded Wear, the Red Circle Foundation, the LT Michael Murphy Foundation, and other military related charities.
The can had 25mg of caffeine (which I need for a 5am workout), only 15 calories, no sugar and lots of other good stuff. I checked out the KC web site and social sites like Twitter and FB and found even more info from the KC crew that you might like:
Kill Cliff is a functional recovery drink made up of B, C, and E vitamins, electrolytes, and plant extracts including ginger root, green tea extract, and ginseng root powder as well as a unique enzyme blend. Kill Cliff aids in recovery and helps you feel awesome again through micro nutrient replenishment and is best taken before, after or during a strenuous workout, or when you need to fight that not-so-awesome feeling.
I tried Free Fall this morning. It was Lemon-lime flavored and there were two others on the shelf:
- Tasty (Blood Orange)
- Double Awesomeness (Pomegranate Watermelon)
A bit high on the sodium load, but nothing more significant than the other drinks on the market.
These drinks seem to have a Cross Fit following, so nothing you won’t sweat out in 10 minutes of your “WOD”, or 5 minutes lifting with me.
Just passing along in case you see it on the shelf next to the others… try out some awesomeness! Better yet, some Double Awesomeness!
And if you want to come work out with us, pack two.
