March Madness

March 19, 2014 by NotSoAverage Joe Leave a Comment

College hoops are finally here with March Madness officially kicking off!

What’s the Score?

You’ll hear that a lot over the next few weeks. From the tipoff of the play-in game to the final four and ultimately the championship game.

I ask that same question to myself… I am typically “That Guy” who relishes glancing over at the scoreboard of life.

Never even close.  No Cinderella’s.   I always have a considerable lead for the home team…..me!  Life is my B!

Scoreboard:

That Guy – 175  vs Life – 0

Every so often I let the work-life balance tip in favor of work.  Today is that day, or should I say… this week is that week.

When work starts gaining ground and the scale is tipped in favor of ‘The Man”, it reminds me of a great scene from Office Space:

The Way I See It

I’ve got two choices… continue to let work tip the scale or blast through this (like I always do) with a “Bo Over the Top” move or continue to cry in my cornflakes and have a pity party.

Old Lou Holtz put it all in perspective when he said

Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it

Game On!

How does “That Guy” respond?

You suck it up, put on your big boy pants and show up for leg day today.

You warm up with 3 miles of sprint interval training followed by some heavy a** squats.

Then, hit the showers feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day and tip that scale back in favor of Life.
